Attributes to America’s Educational Greatness:

The first hundred plus universities in America were founded as theological seminaries to preach the Gospel.

Harvard’s Beginnings:
While Harvard was not created solely for the purpose of training clergy, it was a primary objective, graduating 52 percent of its students into the clergy. Harvard’s seal adopted in 1643 had the word “Veritas” inscribed across three books. It was quickly replaced by “In Christi gloriam” to express the institution’s desire to train students for the glory of Christ Harvard included “a twice daily Bible reading (which) was reinforced by a twice daily ‘logical analysis’ of a biblical passage, breaking it down into its major and minor premises and expounding its arguments.”

Three Great Awakening which spurred some of the greatest reformations of society towards abolition and manners.

The New England Primer was the first textbook ever printed in America and was used to teach reading and Bible lessons in our schools until the twentieth century. In fact, many of the Founding Fathers and their children learned to read from The New England Primer. This pocket-size edition is an historical reprint of the 1777 version used in many schools during the Founding Era.
